The 6 reason why strawberry flower was not blossom

As you know, if strawberry flowers do not bloom, then you would not get the berries. The reasons can be very different. From wrong seeding depth to excessive fertilizer. Let’s take a closer look at the most common reason.

REASON 1: INCORRECT PLANTING METHOD

When planting, strawberries should not be buried too deeply, nor should they be allowed to rise higher than the soil surface.

This plant has a so-called heart – small compaction at the base of the bush from which the roots grow at the bottom and the rosettes of leaves at the top.

It cannot be left completely bare or submerged in the soil, in both cases, the strawberry will not flower and will not be harvested. The ideal is to place them at soil level and in no case to cover the center of the rosette with soil.

The strawberry is an indispensable berry for those who want to lose weight. Its pulp contains even less sugar than lemon and can be consumed by diabetics.

REASON 2: PLANTING TOO LATE

If you plant strawberries too late, like in September or October. It won’t be flowering either.

After transplanting, the plants need time to adapt and grow enough roots, otherwise, they will bloom in the spring instead of the next year. late July to early September is considered the best time to plant strawberries.

REASON 3: FROST

In the cold winter, caused by little snow or frost in May, strawberry kernels may be frozen, especially if the bushes are not properly covered.

If this is really the cause, we can’t hold any hope for this season. Let them recover in the summer and you can harvest again next year.

REASON 4: EXCESS OR LACK OF NUTRITION

The first feeding of strawberries – nitrogen. This fertilizer helps plants grow green, but does not stimulate flowering. Applying too much nitrogen fertilizer, strawberry bushes refuse to bloom but become lush and endless.

To solve this problem, it is necessary to switch to potassium and phosphorus fertilizers – they stimulate the formation of roots and flower establishment. Reducing the concentration of substances in the soil will help to water frequently and heavily on dry days.

The opposite situation is the “starvation” of strawberries. Fertilizer should be applied at least three times during the season: spring, summer, and autumn. Strawberries go well with seafood, poultry, and cheese. They are even fried with peppers.

REASON 5: PLANTING MANAGEMENT

Outgrown strawberries need to be renewed every 4-5 years from the time they are planted. If a bush that previously brought a good crop starts to bloom and fruit poorly, this is a reason to consider rejuvenating the plant.

New plants should be planted from the end of July. Time for rooting and germination. For planting, fibrous roots from both old and new plants can be used, the main thing is that they must be healthy.

REASON 6: LACK OF SUNLIGHT

Strawberry is a crop that needs sunlight very much. Any shade falling on the flower bed will affect flowering and fruiting.

If it happens that the plant is in the shade, eliminate its source urgently or deal with replanting and delay next year’s crop. Strawberries are a strong allergen.

Even when used externally, it can cause reactions. Therefore, many factors can affect the flowering of strawberries, but all problems can be solved by carefully observing agricultural techniques and growing conditions.
