So how to growing spinach indoors? This article will take everyone to learn about how to grow family spinach.

Select seeds

Generally, spinach seeds should be selected for 1 to 2 years with strong germination ability. Such seeds can generally be stored for 3 to 5 years.

Spinach seeds are very small, so we must be careful when spreading the seeds, not too dense, or it will affect the subsequent growth of spinach.

After planting the seeds, we only need to cover the soil with about 2-5 mm of soil. A thin layer of soil should not be too thick, otherwise, the seeds will not grow easily after germination.

Germination (not required)

Soak the spinach seeds in warm water for 24 hours, then put two sheets of facial tissues in a cup or other container, put the soaked seeds in the container, and spray wet with a watering can. Seal with plastic wrap. It began to sprout within two days.

Note:
Sowing in summer and autumn requires germination. You can soak the seeds in a refrigerator or freezer at about 4°C for 24 hours, and then accelerate germination at 20-25°C. After 3-5 days of germination, sowing.

In winter and spring, you can use dry seeds or wet seeds to sow directly.

Prepare the container and soil

Although spinach is easy to raise, the preliminary preparations are not sloppy at all.

The container for planting spinach does not need to be too deep, because spinach is a fast-growing vegetable and will not take deep roots, but it is recommended that the area be slightly larger;

Plastic boxes, plastic flower pots, and other containers can be used to grow spinach by poking a few holes in the bottom.

As for the soil, we should choose a loose, breathable, and soft soil so that spinach can easily dig through the soil to take root when it is still young.

Transplanting seedlings

After the potting soil is soaked, the germinated spinach seeds are spread on the soil surface.

It should be noted that the soil moisture in the pot should be kept moderate, and the moisture should not be too high. Otherwise, it is easy to rot the spinach seedling roots.

Then cover with soil about 1 cm. Before the sprouts of spinach emerge, if the topsoil is dry, it can be watered by spraying.

Seedlings grow slowly. After 2 true leaves, the growth rate starts to increase. Generally, water them once every 1 to 4 days to keep the soil moist.

After pouring the bottom water, the seeds are spread on the soil, and the soil does not need to be too much. If the topsoil is dry before germination, it can be watered by spraying.

Watering

Every day, take a watering can and spray it towards the soil at a long distance, so that the seeds will germinate in a humid environment.

At the same time, spinach seedlings are not tolerant of waterlogging. Although sufficient water is needed during the growth period and drought is avoided, large amounts of water should not be used.

Generally, water once every 1 to 2 days, and water in the morning and evening as needed at high temperature to keep the soil moist.

Sunshine

When most of the spinach has sprouted, we can move the container to a place where the sun can see the sun, so that the spinach can photosynthesize better and grow faster.

What needs everyone to pay attention to is that seeing the sun does not mean that you can see the big sun all at once, you need to step by step in the sun;

And even the grown-up spinach cannot under the noon sun in summer, otherwise, it will be damaged.

Maintenance method

  1. After the spinach sprouts and grows fine small leaves, start watering when the soil is dry, as long as there is no accumulation of water.
  2. During the growth of spinach, pay attention to fertilization. When the leaves grow to four or five pieces, you can use decomposed chicken manure, cow manure, and sheep manure, or even rabbit manure or nutrient solution.
  3. If the temperature is lower in winter, you can also make a small plastic shed, which will grow faster.
