Red-Tailed Amaranth
An annual plant with erect stems, 35-50″” (90-130 cm) high. The flowers are small, collected in hanging inflorescences of carmine-red color, 20-30″” (50-80 cm) long. It is used for the decoration of flower beds, fences, and cutting into dry bouquets.

Planting instructions:
Sow directly in open ground from mid-May to early June when the soil temperature is 65-75°F (20-25 C). Soak seeds for 20 min in cool water and drain them thoroughly after to speed up germination. Sow ¼ inch deep in loose non-acidic and well-drained soil in full sun area with min 6h of sun daily, protected from the wind. Cover lightly with soil. Rinse with water regularly. Seeds should germinate in 6-10 days. After a month thin them out, leaving a distance between seedlings of 20 inches (50 cm). In June, pinch the plant from above to help flowers to grow larger and more colorful. Once the plant is established, water it only during prolonged droughts. Weeding and mounding are recommended. Start Amaranth for seedlings in crates indoors in April and transplant outside after the last frost and once seedlings are about 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Harden off the seedlings before transplanting outdoors.
Do not fertilize marigolds during growth.
